 How to become a model?

How to get started:

Before you get started doing anything in modeling, you should ask yourself these questions as they will help guide you for the rest of the process.
What do I want to get out of modeling?
Whether fulltime Model or Part-time Model?
What am I willing to place into becoming a model?
What category model do I would like to be? Like Fashion, Runway, swimsuit, sport, print & advertising, Trade show model, etc.
Modeling as a part-time hobby or Full-time profession?
How flexible am I for traveling and for time management?

Once you evaluate the above questions, there are two ways to go.

The first way is to contact a modeling agency.
The other way is to try on your own.

Get your own dresses, makeup, portfolio, AV looks, etc., this is easily done consult an agent or try over the internet, now there are several social media channels of popular grooming agencies and agents of modeling. Where in you can post your portfolios, and knowledge on yourself to how to draw in talent scouts.

If you chose to go with the modeling agency route and to figure out with a modeling agency, it is difficult sometimes to understand and to find a good one as every agency has its own criteria.

You can easily look up and find some agencies in an online directory or web search, etc. Go through their website and shortlist some agency names which suit your requirements.

Before you do contact the agency, you should contact anyone you know directly or via media, which is a model and finding out about their experiences with that modeling agency. Try and repeat the same with other agencies also.

Once you have a general idea of the agency, contact some of the agencies and fix up an appointment to meet with them.

Meeting with the agency can be the toughest and most nerve-wracking stage of the whole experience. Do your homework and preparations, be firm, confident, and don’t allow the agency to take a disadvantage of you!

Things to ask and look for are:

What have they done for other models?
What can they do for you?
Can they meet your requirements as an individual and as a model?
Does the agency have similar goals for you because the ones you've got for yourself?
The question left to ask is “How do you get your very first modeling portfolio shoot?” depends on which route you took.

If you go with an agency you will have to arrange with them, to have a Folio shoot taken, and to start building your modeling portfolio.

If you decide to try on your own, you will have to build your own portfolio.

By utilizing photos that you already have or by hiring a photographer to have photoshoots done. Between these to better hire a photographer, as it looks more professional, and the quality, look & framing is much greater than simple photos.
